So my baby sister is doing her public health rotation in nursing school this semester, and she's not looking forward to it. The girl likes adrenaline, which means she likes working trauma, and instead of dealing with head wounds she's going to be giving hearing tests to Head Start kids all over the city.
Best part of the conversation?

they can't talk back then! perfect! Libby, I am so glad you posted- I have missed you so!
I hopped over to her blog and saw the post about stilts... So, what did you end up doing? Is Beth cruising around on tuna cans?
Okay, for the record: I wouldn't put the kid on tuna cans! We'll find something more appropriate, such as a pineapple can...if we can ever convince Sarah to eat pineapple....
I read the stilts post too and I'm still tearing up with laughter. I think Libby's Pumpkin cans (the big size)would be ideal (and would match your avatar - what could be sweeter). And it would give you an excuse to eat pie (or pumpkin curry soup). Yum!
Hey, don't knock those hearing tests. I'm sure plenty of kids find them traumatic enough!
BTW, my cousin Katie is an audiologist, and delights in making the "Hearing Test Thursday" joke from the Simpsons...
So good to have you back blogging. After seeing you last week I decided that I would start up again as well. I did a record 8 posts in one day. I had lots to catch up on. I'm so glad we were able to see you and your girls. Calista is still wondering when she can play with Beth again.
I agree with Rachel...at least they can't argue and talk back.
I was beginning to think you'd been abducted by aliens or something.
I loved having stilts made of cans when I was a kid! Except the strings on them that you hold with your hands were always too short, so I had to bend over like the Curiously Tall Hunchback of Notre Dame.
It's great to have you back to blogging, Libby! Do your girls like the castle?
